stranger support
Update: Since the time this post was released, things at church changed a bit.
The Bible talks about this. It says that those closest to you will betray you first. I imagine that Jesus knew that people who are strangers are most likely to be supportive.
Luke 21:12 NLT
[12] “But before all this occurs, there will be a time of great persecution. You will be dragged into synagogues and prisons, and you will stand trial before kings and governors because you are my followers.
[14] So don’t worry in advance about how to answer the charges against you, [15] for I will give you the right words and such wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to reply or refute you! [16] Even those closest to you—your parents, brothers, relatives, and friends—will betray you. They will even kill some of you. [17] And everyone will hate you because you are my followers. [18] But not a hair of your head will perish! [19] By standing firm, you will win your souls.
Well, I guess these scriptures are more referring to the end times then present times. It is true that many people will hate us because we follow Christ. Many family members will hate us because we love Christ. As for me, I'm already rejected a lot because I'm different. I have BPD and ADHD and so it makes me different from the baby boomers and thus most of them can't understand me. There are some that are only 10 years older than me and can't understand me, so combine that with loving Christ and not following the world, and then on top of that, posting about God! Yeah, I'm in a league all by myself. I am looking how I can gain more understanding from people. It takes effort on their part too. I'm always being told I have to make the effort. I can't make all the effort and get no reception. I guess I need better bunny ears.
Now this year, 2023, after many years of waiting, a breakthrough has occurred. A stranger named James Carter, who is the host of "A Voice Crying in the Desert" has become a friend and YouTube collabator.
Also, I am so blessed to be married to Phil. Phil is so understanding and knows the real me. I think that's the problem at my church. We are so spread out when we have Bible study and a couple of people don't really let a lot of other people talk, and it never really gets set up for me to contribute, so, they just don't know me.
Dec. 18th Windsong Pictures filmed a Christmas movie. Phil and I helped. I sang and Phil played keyboard. I asked if anyone at church would help, but no one came. There was a large family who had rented a room and the gym at the same time as us. They had a ton of kids with them and those kids were allowed to be in our film. We met this family for the first time!
It just makes me sad that people at church don't really help much. I wonder if anyone will ask how it went.
This blog post may sound like I'm whining or complaining, but I'm not. I'm just having a one sided conversation to help me process this. The pastor preaches to ask for help, but when we do, no one helps. We're going to once again stop asking. I want people to reach out to me, so I've started trying to reach out to them. I have made connections with a couple of people and I believe that Bible study will be much more productive than any other. We won't be meeting at church. I couldn't go to the second meeting because I was sick, but I'll get there next time.
