parable of the 10 bridesmaids

 ‭‭ ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25:1‭-‬13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

[1] “Then the Kingdom of Heaven will be like ten bridesmaids who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. [2] Five of them were foolish, and five were wise. [3] The five who were foolish didn’t take enough olive oil for their lamps, [4] but the other five were wise enough to take along extra oil. [5] When the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep. [6] “At midnight they were roused by the shout, ‘Look, the bridegroom is coming! Come out and meet him!’ [7] “All the bridesmaids got up and prepared their lamps. [8] Then the five foolish ones asked the others, ‘Please give us some of your oil because our lamps are going out.’ [9] “But the others replied, ‘We don’t have enough for all of us. Go to a shop and buy some for yourselves.’ [10] “But while they were gone to buy oil, the bridegroom came. Then those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked. [11] Later, when the other five bridesmaids returned, they stood outside, calling, ‘Lord! Lord! Open the door for us!’ [12] “But he called back, ‘Believe me, I don’t know you!’ [13] “So you, too, must keep watch! For you do not know the day or hour of my return.

There are a lot of preachers who very popular because they teach the feel good gospel.  They pump people up on Sunday morning, but this feeling crashes like a sugar rush because they don't build a good foundation for people to stand on.

Then they return the following Sunday to get built up again. The gospel they should be preaching is the one that teaches to prepare for Jesus' coming. The bridesmaids that didn't pack enough oil didn't have enough faith.
We must completely put our trust in God. He has to be our cornerstone for everything we do in life. If you see a pastor preaching the gospel, but is not popular, that is the pastor you should follow. That is the pastor that will lead you to Jesus, who will lead you to the promised land. Jesus died for you because he loves you that much.
The foolish bridesmaids didn't put enough faith in Jesus. They only had enough to get by, they didn't prepare for the future. We must prepare for the future by training now. An untrained athlete will not make it in the Olympics, that is just not how it works. We must be in training now. We must put 100 percent of our faith into God.

No one knows when Jesus will return again. We can't plan for it. We can't procrastinate.

I am sitting here trying to think of what to write because this morning, I wrote a lot, then hit the wrong button and lost it all. That usually doesn't happen. Phil is sick and got up early to go sleep in the den. The den is near the kitchen where I was.  I felt like I had to be so quiet. I have moved upstairs to my office so that I could listen to music with my headphones and type with a computer keyboard, versus the keyboard on my phone.

This is out of the ordinary routine we have and it is throwing me off. This is how it is going to be when Jesus starts making his way closer back to earth. Things are going to change. Things are going to be different. Things are going to be out of the ordinary, because let's face it, Jesus is not ordinary. He is far greater than anything we can ever imagine.  We need to make sure we have enough oil, we have to make sure we have enough faith. We have to have faith that Jesus is who he says he is, we have to faith that he is coming back, we have to have faith that he loves us. We have to have faith that he wants us. He loves us. We need to put our faith in Jesus 100 percent. Every minute of every day we have to trust in Jesus. Thomas doubted until he was able to put his finger into the hole of Jesus' hand. Maybe a doubting board would be handy for you to put together. Have a place on your wall and every time you doubt Jesus, post a post it note writing the doubt and post it. Then pray about it and ask God to show you the way to remove this doubt. At church, a few of us ladies have started a Bible study. It is based on the book called Dangerous Prayers by Greg Groeschel. A few things we found were it is good to have a special place in your home that is for praying. A war room, if you will. It is a good idea to dump your brain before you start praying so that your prayers are hyper focused. We need to make appointments with God.

It is common for modern churches to boil the gospel down to fit the world's agenda. This is dangerous. It is doing the people a disservice. A pastor's job is to train his parishioners. If he is not doing that, he will be punished by God.

Get on fire for God! Praise God always. Hosanna! Hallelujah! Comment below your praises, your prayer requests, or comments.
