the ultimate comforter

‭2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NLT‬
[3] All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is our merciful Father and the source of all comfort. [4] He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 

God is love. God is all about love. That's why he sent his Spirit to comfort us while he is away preparing a place for us. God loves us so much. We can turn to food or TV to comfort us but it's never going to be the same as the comforting of Jesus. God is all about love . 

When Jesus wanted to approach someone to correct them he didn't chastise them-he asked them questions. This led to a conversation. Think about the woman at the well. He didn't criticize her because she had been married several times, he just asked about her husband. He knew all about her but he didn't criticize her. And in the end she told everyone about Him. If you think about it, when you go to a restaurant or store or buy something off Amazon, if you're into writing reviews, and you have a good experience or a bad experience, aren't you going to write about it in the review area? 

When people are really happy with their service, they want to tell everyone about it. I was just having a conversation about like this with Mark who owns the Light House Coffee Bar. He said that you know if you can get word of mouth advertising then you're pretty much golden. If people are satisfied with your service, they're going to tell people about it. 


So think about that, if you are nasty to people and claim to be a Christian, why would they want to be a Christian? We can't have a bad attitude and be snippy to cashiers or janitors, or have a bad attitude during heavy traffic. A lot of people get mad when somebody cuts them off. I may get a little miffed when that happens, because I was afraid of the almost accident, but I get over it very, very quickly. I might yell at them even though they can't hear me, but I don't use cuss words or anything. I see nothing wrong with doing that to me it gets the irritation out so that it's not building up inside of me.

So yeah, if you have a good experience with Christians they're more likely to want to look for it. They will see the joy in your heart and in your eyes.

A soldier is better being protected vs. being unprotected. One thing I really enjoy is going to the gym. I love to exercise. Now, in order to get the benefits of the gym, I need to go there in person. I can read tons of books and magazines teaching about how to build muscle and tone up, and that's good for head knowledge, but for physical benefit, I have to go to the gym.  The same I believe can be applied to the Bible. This is how I feel sometimes. I talk, I write, I sing, is anyone listening? I show my exercise, do I inspire anyone? Sure, absolutely, I know I'm doing it for God and that keeps me going, but it is nice to hear back from people. Comments are very important to people who do things like me. Not emojis!  Emojis hardly convey anything. Sure, I love emojis as much as the next person, but words have SO much more meaning.  People go on and on, if you're feeling lonely or need help, reach out. What good is this if no one answers? Know what that feels like? Rejection. Yes, Christians aren't supposed to feel rejected, oh wait, I'm sorry, that's only me, I'm not allowed. I'm not allowed to express anger or hurt feelings, because the person didn't intend to do that, so, I shouldn't feel that way. do not have to report for jury duty/dragon boat races today

Tamara received a notification in the mail that she was going to have to report for jury duty. But turns out that that is not necessary anymore because the parties have decided not to have a trial. So that is good news in a way.  Today is the dragon boat race. This is something that Phil and I really enjoy. We were going to go to the opening ceremony last night, but due to the rain, it was canceled.
