they crossed the jordan on dry land

‭Joshua 3:14-16 NLT‬

[14] So the people left their camp to cross the Jordan, and the priests who were carrying the Ark of the Covenant went ahead of them. [15] It was the harvest season, and the Jordan was overflowing its banks. But as soon as the feet of the priests who were carrying the Ark touched the water at the river’s edge, [16] the water above that point began backing up a great distance away at a town called Adam, which is near Zarethan. And the water below that point flowed on to the Dead Sea until the riverbed was dry. Then all the people crossed over near the town of Jericho.

‭Joshua 3:17 NLT‬

[17] Meanwhile, the priests who were carrying the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant stood on dry ground in the middle of the riverbed as the people passed by. They waited there until the whole nation of Israel had crossed the Jordan on dry ground.

Wow, so here is a second account of the water being dried up so that people can cross and then probably returning to its original state. 

‭Joshua 4:18 NLT‬

[18] As soon as the priests carrying the Ark of the Lord’s Covenant came up out of the riverbed and their feet were on high ground, the water of the Jordan returned and overflowed its banks as before.

‭Joshua 4:23-24 NLT‬

[23] For the Lord your God dried up the river right before your eyes, and he kept it dry until you were all across, just as he did at the Red Sea when he dried it up until we had all crossed over. [24] He did this so all the nations of the earth might know that the Lord’s hand is powerful, and so you might fear the Lord your God forever.”

So you see the Lord gives different tasks to test the faith of people just like he does today. People act like the world is getting worse and worse, that may or may not be true. To me, there is much grief, sorrow, war, battle, victories, sickness, friendship, love and rulers in the Bible just like we have today. One difference though I think it seems like people don't have a very serious relationship with God. They go to church and that's about it. Having a relationship with God so much more than that. That's why it's important to go through the scriptures from the very beginning verse by verse and just dwell on each verse and think about the relationship that people had with God back then. They also had very deep relationships with each other. They helped out each other, they got to know each other and they were a support system for each other. We don't have a lot of that for the most part these days.

‭Psalms 27:14 NLT‬

[14] Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord.
